In addition to its loan program for minority businesses, The Miami Bayside Foundation encourages minority entrepreneurship by providing assistance to educational institutions.
By partnering with institutions such as Miami Dade College, Florida International University (FIU) and Florida Memorial University (FMU), The Miami Bayside Foundation has created scholarship endowments that will award many thousands of students with financial aid in years to come.
In the last three years the Foundation has provided 225 scholarships to City of Miami students at Miami Dade College, Florida International University, and Florida Memorial University. Additionally, the Foundation endowed the first ever scholarship program at FIU’s MBA Program. This academic year it will launch a scholarship at every Senior High School in the City of Miami.
Miami Bayside Foundation scholarship programs have given students the opportunity to not only access resources that were not previously available to them, but to also create a pay-it-forward mentality. The program has also aided in lightening financial burdens.
“Coming from a poor immigrant background, I wouldn’t have been able to afford college alone. If it weren’t for the Miami Bayside Foundation’s generosity, achieving my degree would have been much more difficult. For that I am eternally grateful.”
“Coming from a family that has a very low income, scholarships such as these really do make a difference and give students, like myself, the opportunity to demonstrate their hard-work and dedication in school.”
“I am the first person in my family to go to college. I live in a low income household where, no matter what the circumstances, school has always comes first. Although my parents have struggled to provide me with all I need to succeed, being a recipient of the First Generation Scholarship has helped tremendously. Thank you for supporting me and other families who truly need this extra help.”
